I'm learning Python for the purpose of find a tool to process data and store datasets in a SQL database for later extraction and analysisI'm not at the point where I understand "data science" - I just need a language to extract data from XML files, TSV files, and databases, and do simple aggregations and joinsNodeJSI feel that if I learn node, i'll pick up a very useful language (javascript) which I can later easily use for front end workIt also appears to be fast, and javascript community is very active, with npm packages for everything.Javascript also has many visualisation packagesPythonThis language definitely seems more common for tasks that process data, however are there any advantages to just using Javascript (a far more common language)? I would rather learn JS if it's capable of doing most of the things that Python can do
