Is it possible to make long polling using a native Node.js function?

I have seen the possibility of a function setting at interval or timeout recalling for client, here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/26781577/how-to-long-poll-in-nodejs-javascript​I'm wondering if there is more native way to achieve this function?​Any hint would be great,thanks
