Newbie Question, clarificaiton on -g prefix

I've read the documentation and I know it means global. But I'm not sure how it works. Let's say I have a current directory path of: C:\Users\Owner\Downloads\new-project1and I used the command:npm istall -g expressWould -g install npm=express at the parent directory of the current path? so Downloads? Double checking since I can't seem to find it in Downloads.Documentation:http://ift.tt/1M39bVx
