Why learn Node/Express if everyone recommends to just use Firebase?

I see most people recommending using Firebase for the backend and forgetting about setting up the backend yourself because it's "too complicated" and it's better to avoid the overhead.I got a solid foundation of React and then moved on to learning Node/Express, which I really like because of it's simplicity and the fact they allow you to stick to JS, so I am a bit confused...Maybe it's a stupid question or I'm missing something, but what is the point of learning Node/Express if most people out there on forums, YT, blogs, etc. recommend you to use Firebase and not even bother with the backend?
