Hello all,As a young and growing OSS developer, no one cared about my first products. I launched a library on GitHub and only got a few stars. I had no idea about HN or Reddit, didn't know there were communities, showcases etc. All in all, it was an extremely demotivating time for me. I am sure this has happened to many others and I want to help those young and growing developers showcase their projects and ideas, and get recognized for their effort. I am not talking about getting a million dollars or getting a big tech giant to use their library or software. No, I am only talking about giving a helping hand; a few stars, maybe a fork, an issue. Anything so that the developer feels motivated enough to not abandon his idea.So I have come here to discuss how we can create something that will help us and other developers grow in a fair, collaborative and friendly way.I am aware that not all ideas are super great and that some are just trying to learn a tool or language but in my opinion those are the software developers that need to be motivated and brought forward. Some of you might even say, "Well, if they are ambitious enough, they should make the effort." but in my opinion that would be a waste of talent; not everyone is a good marketer. You might be thinking, why am I discussing this in the /r/node. Here's my reason: I am a Node.js developer.Obviously not many can do this manually consistently; creating a "dev" social media is out of the question. Instead of waiting for them to come to us; why not we go to them? Many developers are ashamed of their ideas and never publicize their idea out of fear of getting rejected; it would be awesome if we could help them where they are. just a thought. What if we could create something that would curate, randomize and showcase one random, unpopular but actively maintained repo daily that you could view, star and fork according to your sensibilities?I am open to any and all ideas regarding this.Thank you for taking the interest : )For those who may be curious, here's my GitHub this is not self-promotion only authentication.
