How to save an item for some minutes so it will not be available to others? And eventually free that item when user abandon on checkout.

I am working on an e-commerce platform with only limited stocks. We would like to add a feature where in when a user checks out that item, it will be sort of saved in some place then if the user abandoned his cart, it frees the item up.Any workflow or tech we can use with this? Thanks!
